PUZZLED BY NEW AND PROPOSED STANDARDS FOR LEGIONELLA WATER MANAGEMENT?

Preventing building-associated infections due to Legionella and waterborne pathogens requires special knowledge. ASHRAE Standard 188 states that this knowledge include understanding of water management as it relates to legionellosis. We’ll discuss how the new ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI Standard 12080 bridges the knowledge gap and how new proposed Joint Commission Environment of Care standards will advance proactive prevention of healthcare-acquired Legionnaires’ disease.
