PUZZLED BY PROJECT LEGEND? A VOLUNTEER PROGRAM TO END LEGIONELLA IN NEW YORK STATE HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

Project LegEnd is a volunteer sampling program set up by NYSDOH aimed at Ending Legionella in NYS healthcare facilities. With support from CDC, facilities receive free Legionella sampling and feedback on their building water management practices. Data from the project are being used to better understand Legionella risk. This presentation will describe the program, discuss preliminary findings, and provide examples of how the data are being applied to outreach materials and other prevention programs.
Ursula Lauper, MPH is Chief of the Water Systems Control and Analysis Section in the NYSDOH Bureau of Water Supply Protection and an Assistant Clinical Professor at the SUNY at Albany School of Public Health’s Environmental Health Sciences Department. She oversees the implementation of 10NYCRR Part 4, Protection Against Legionella.
