This presentation will help you better understand how water is used in healthcare systems and the potential risks that could be associated with the water system(s). The focus will be on non-Legionella waterborne pathogens that may cause healthcare-associated infections and strategies to prevent such infections.
Speaker: Cheryl Squier RN, CIC, is an Infection Prevention Consultant for Special Pathogens Laboratory. She is retired after a long nursing career at the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System and the VA VISN 4 Network. Most of these years were dedicated to the fields of Infection Prevention, Patient Safety and Sterile Processing. Squier has authored/co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and abstracts in the field of infection prevention and waterborne pathogens. She is a long standing member of the Association for Infection Prevention and Epidemiology had been certified in infection control since 1994.
